Depending on which Fall Fashion 2014 guide you googled you’ll see that designers are dictating trends that range across a variety of looks. Some of the different looks I’ve heard about include Orange, Gold & Blue matchy-match to 60’s dresses, Novelty prints, Leopard, Shearling, Fairy Tales, Western, Gothic, Knits, Furs, Feathers, Bold Prints, Animal Embroidery, Animal Print, Stripes, Camo, Men’s Suits, Flat Shoes and Cinched Waists just to name a few, whew!
So where do you begin? Keep in mind that your personal STYLE will transcend any fad. If you’re going to add a wink to Fall 2014 fashion, do it with an accessory while keeping your personal style the same. This way, at the end of a season, it’s a lot easier to retire a scarf or other separate than an entire outfit!
Here are three of my favorite fall fashion accessories that you can sew on your own!
1. Faux Fur Collar
If you sew a stand alone lined, fur shawl collar, you‘ll have a versatile accessory you can overlay onto a variety of sweaters or jackets. Make several in different colors and textures to add fall fun to your existing wardrobe!
2. Cell Phone Pocket Holder
To break up the animal print, this one has edge joining with decorative stitching and braiding. Consider top straps so it can snap or button on to any slacks that have belt loops. With a beaded fob zipper closure, you’ll always have your cell within reach and the animal print keeps you on-trend!
3. Camo Vest
The removal of the long sleeves turned this ready-made lightweight jacket into a camo vest. Use layering pieces in seasonal colors to transition from summer to fall!
What Fall Fashion style will you stitch for your wardrobe’s update?
