When incandescent HSN host Amy Bravo showed up to the Friday Night Game Night set a few weeks ago, she openly admitted that her family, in the days leading up, had been helping her “practice” Don’t Say It, our rapid-speed word-guessing showdown. Not only did Amy want the contestant to win, she wanted to win – like, REALLY, REALLY wanted to win. Hunky host Guy Yovan routinely fires himself up before launching into FNGN action, might have even done a few pushups; that dreamy slab of man is competitive and then some.
When super-smart dudes Brett Chukerman and Bill Green “lost” on the show (not that there are any losers on our show…) they were legitimately bummed, vowing with certainty to win the next time they played. And don’t even get me started on Alyce Caron, who’s had a few tough Game Night breaks. She sits right next to me in the office; I hear about her cruel Game Night fate alllll the time.
It’s not just the hosts who are ultra-competitive on Game Night, either. As you can see, jewelry queen Heidi Daus – who was nervous and excited and extremely intent on victory – gives her rounds of “Don’t Say It” and “Grab It” (our swirly HSN cash machine) full gusto. As a result, the drama is palpable. Heidi is a celebrity in her own right, and yet there’s something about competing on FNGN that humbles and titillates even the biggest stars. And don’t you know the FNGN staff absolutely loves that.
