So last Friday, I dressed up as a sock monkey and hosted a nationally televised game show. Finally, I can cross THAT off the bucket list. For as much as I complained about how hot the costume was in the HSN studios, I wore that furry sucker AGAIN on Saturday for Halloween, taking my two preteen daughters trick-or-treating in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida – you know, where the “feels like” temp is about 187 degrees.
Yikes! Pretty sure I lost about 30 lbs. in water weight. Still, my kids thought Daddy was funny – plus I scored a boatload of candy.
Alas, all good sock monkey antics must come to an end. So this blog post is the final goodbye to my furry friend. When my producers first floated the idea of me wearing that costume, I balked. Then I pretty much wore it for 3 straight weeks. But I can’t wear it anymore – it might start to get creepy. Imagine if I showed up to Thanksgiving in the monkey getup?! Grandma would pass out in the sweet potatoes!
Thanks for the good times, sock monkey. We made some people laugh, we made some people cry (from laughing at me), we brought goofy goodness into the world. Godspeed, little buddy. You will always be immortalized in the following Friday Night Game Night videos…
