Go Behind the Scenes on Friday Night Game Night!

There’s not a lot of time for off-camera chicanery on the set of Friday Night Game Night. Oh sure, we have fun when the cameras are on and we’re singing and dancing for you guys. But the dozens-strong talents behind the HSN show are too focused on lighting and sound cues, camera “blocking,” messaging for sponsors, etc., to goof around.

Long story short: The folks responsible for FNGN are very serious about putting on a very fun show.

Usually, someone – or, ahem, everyone – will bark at me to put my phone away. (I like my phone; it’s pretty.) But this week I had a reason to snap, snap, snap away, and no one could say a darn thing. I wanted to show you guys some behind-the-scenes stuff. I can’t give away all the secrets, of course. But here’s a peek at how the game-show sausage is made.

In the HSN green room

Every now and then, I get to lounge in a luxe HSN green room (free snacks! free drinks!) before, during and after shows. When I’m in there by myself, hiding from the world (and producers), no one is around to mock my glorious selfies. Or see me smuggle Fritos in my Dopp kit.

Lancôme team squeezed into the Grab It machine

Last Thursday, I casually mentioned to the Lancôme team that they should stop by the FNGN set while we were shooting. We like an audience and, if you know our show, we like visitors to get LOUD: hootin’ and hollerin’, cheering and laughing, complimenting me on my wardrobe. As you’ll see in the video below, Cara & Robert from Lancome, such incredibly nice funny attractive people, took the invite one step further: They put on their TV clothes, squeezed into the Grab It machine and won Game Night bucks for a contestant.

My hunky cameraman, Brandon

Ladies lovvvvvve my hunky cameraman Brandon, a Sasquatchian presence who, to be honest, is my rock out there on the set. (Even though he also hates my phone.) He’s a tremendously talented dude. Oh, and he’s single, wink wink. Just putting that out there.

Tamara Hooks came to visit

We’ve been filming Game Night for 7 months now; we’ve paraded a cavalcade of celebs through the door. But I still have a wishlist. Ever since I filmed Christmas Day merriment with Tamara Hooks, I’ve been begging the HSN host to come on the show. So she did. And she crushed.

Deke, the show’s production technician

Deke, the show’s production technician, obviously loves working with me.

Buttons in the studio

Buttons in the studio. Couldn’t tell you what any of them actually do. Except for the “Make Sean Look More Handsome Button.” The director needs to hit that one a lot – like he’s playing Galaga or something.

In action!

They bust out the fancy signage for my show.

Okay, now that you’ve seen the pix, here’s what last Friday’s show looked like on your TV set when Lancôme’s dynamic duo of Cara and Robert squeezed into the swirly Grab-It machine:
