Redesign Your Throw Pillows Easily with This DIY Idea

Spending extra time indoors during the winter starts me looking around the house and thinking of new ways to reorganize or style a room. An easy way to add color or introduce a new note of personality to your living areas is with throw pillows. These items are easy to make accent pieces for that can dramatically change the tone in a room. If you’re thinking of taking your next project to a more festive level, I’d like to introduce you to: The Sequin Foot! It was designed to sew strands of flat sequins with ease and accuracy.

Now you can add sparkle to your home accents and acquire professional looking results quickly and easily. Put the toothpicks, glitter, and sticky glue away because now you can easily stitch them onto fabric with this special attachment. It’s so simple to use you may feel as though you have a second set of hands!

Unsure where or how to apply? Need a little inspiration? Follow these simple steps!

1) Follow The Trail

Use a screwdriver to attach the sequin foot to the shank of your sewing machine. Be sure to insert the strand of FLAT sequins so that the foot is sewing in the same direction of the tiny palettes –not against them! You can begin by following a pre-printed pattern or design your own.

2) Stitch and Tuck

Select a stitch that can be adjusted wide enough for the needle to hop over the sequins. A zig-zag will cross over the sequins on a diagonal and appear unsightly whereas a ladder stitch’s side sweep (as seen below) can be tucked under the sequins for a smooth finish.

Use matching threads or invisible monofilament to allow the sequins to be the star! With a sewing machine and a specialty sequin presser foot.
